Managed Service Provider Week in Review

The IT EXPO event took place this week in Miami and with it were a host of announcements. In addition to that, the usual partnerships and funding and expansion news made headlines in the managed services space this week.

BlueOSS topped the headlines with the announcement of its fourth-generation Cloud Innovation Suite (CIS) at ITEXPO. The cloud telecom billing system is geared toward unified communications as a service (UCaaS) offerings and helps service providers capture revenue opportunities as well as improve customer service.

AT&T and Equinix also announced a new partnership this week that is meant to speed adoption of cloud services. The deal embeds the AT&T NetBond solution, which enables customers to connect to cloud services via their private AT&T VPN networks, in a number of Equinix data centers.

Data centers dominated the remaining managed services headlines this week, with news of major funding and expansions in this booming market. MSP Codero Hosting received $8 million in financing, to be used to deploy new data centers throughout the U.S. and Europe. The company will also expand its portfolio of hosted solutions to reach more customers at multiple data center locations.

Oneneck IT, an MSP and colocation provider, shelled out $12 million to expand its Tier III data center in Eden Prairie, MN. The project expands the facility to about 18,000 square feet of raised floor capacity and new equipment and features will also be incorporated at the data center.

And yet another MSP and cloud provider, Expedient, completed a $3 million expansion project this week at its data center in Pittsburgh. The facility now houses more than 17,000 square feet of floor space as well as an additional 20,000 square feet for backup power, HVAC infrastructure and operations and support offices.
