MSP Expo Gold Sponsor ThreatLocker Strengthens Zero Trust Focus with $115M Series D Funding

By Greg Tavarez

Traditional security solutions remain reliant on perimeter defenses and signature-based detection, but they often fall short in the face of these advancements.

In response, zero trust security has come into the fold.

Zero Trust assumes that no user or device, internal or external, should be inherently trusted. Access to resources is granted only after rigorous authentication and authorization processes to minimize the potential damage from a successful cyberattack.

Endpoint security plays a critical role within the zero trust model. Endpoints, which encompass any device accessing a network – from laptops and desktops to servers and mobile devices – are prime targets for attackers. By controlling what applications can run on these devices, organizations reduce the attack surface and mitigate the risk of malware execution, unauthorized data access and lateral movement within the network.

This focus on endpoint security is driving growth within the cybersecurity market. ThreatLocker, a provider of zero trust endpoint security solutions and a Gold sponsor of MSP Expo 2025, is at the forefront of this movement. The company's recent announcement of a $115 million Series D funding round only highlights the increasing demand for better endpoint protection.

The investment, led by global growth equity firm and existing investor General Atlantic, will fuel continued product innovation and accelerate ThreatLocker's global reach. StepStone Group and the D. E. Shaw group also participated in the round.

ThreatLocker swoops in to help organizations implement a comprehensive zero trust security strategy for safeguarding IT operations from evolving cyber threats. Their suite of solutions offers server and endpoint protection through features like default deny application control, Ringfencing, storage control and privileged access management. Network access control, endpoint detection and response and managed detection and response capabilities further strengthen the defense.

What these capabilities do is grant granular control over endpoint applications for a smooth integration with the zero trust model. This approach safeguards businesses from a wide range of threats, including unknown malware, ransomware and exploits targeting known and unknown vulnerabilities.

“ThreatLocker has made a huge impact in the industry in driving a least-privilege approach forward over the last few years and has introduced new EDR and MDR products within a single cybersecurity platform for our customers,” said ThreatLocker CEO Danny Jenkins. “We believe this new injection of capital will enable us to continue to develop zero trust products and grow ThreatLocker's market presence.”

This new investment follows another year of growth, since ThreatLocker doubled its revenue and added 50% to its workforce.

ThreatLocker is a Gold sponsor of MSP Expo, taking place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, February 11-13, 2025. Part of the #TECHSUPERSHOW, MSP Expo is the premier event for MSPs, offering a three-day experience combining conference education, networking opportunities, an exhibit hall full of the latest technologies and solutions to help MSPs build their business, and more. ThreatLocker will be in booth #1635.
