Work is underway on a new, rack-ready data center facility for Windstream Hosted Solutions in Charlotte, NC. Server Farm Realty LLC has partnered with DSA Encore to build the new 60,850-square-foot facility, and design and construction have already begun.
The new 10 MW facility will be the fourth for Windstream in Charlotte, and is expected to open late this year. Windstream, a provider of enterprise-class managed hosted solutions, has seven data centers in North Carolina.
The new facility will offer multiple, 10,000-square-foot data center suites to be leased by Windstream, and will also house the provider's suite of cloud computing, dedicated hardware, managed services and disaster-recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) offerings.

The new facility will offer 2N modular design to support as-needed scalability, 3000kVA of day 1 utility capacity that may be expanded to more than 12MVA and 1215kW of day 1 usable UPS capacity which may be scaled to more than 3600 kW. Additional features include high-capacity, burstable, carrier-neutral Internet connectivity through several Tier 1 Internet providers and an on-site NOC that is fully staffed 24x7x365 to provide security, technical and remote-hands support and network monitoring. The new data center will also feature access to a multi-tenant infrastructure like Enterprise Cloud, EMC and NetApp SAN/NAS, and F5 GTM/LTM platforms. Cisco and Juniper network and security platforms will also be available.
