Work is underway on a new, rack-ready data center facility for Windstream Hosted Solutions in Charlotte, NC. Server Farm Realty LLC has partnered with DSA Encore to build the new 60,850-square-foot facility, and design and construction have already begun.

The new 10 MW facility will be the fourth for Windstream in Charlotte, and is expected to open late this year. Windstream, a provider of enterprise-class managed hosted solutions, has seven data centers in North Carolina.

The new facility will offer multiple, 10,000-square-foot data center suites to be leased by Windstream, and will also house the provider's suite of cloud computing, dedicated hardware, managed services and disaster-recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) offerings.

"Many of our customers have already realized the benefits of integrated, personalized solutions from Windstream Hosted Solutions, and demand for those services continues to increase significantly year over year," said Chris Nicolini, senior vice president of data center operations for Windstream Hosted Solutions., in a statement "This newest data center represents our commitment to providing customers with the highest level of services and reliability in order to meet the changing needs of their businesses."

"Built to suit Windstream's unique specifications, the Charlotte facility epitomizes SFR's commitment to innovative, efficient, and flexible data center design," added Avner Papouchado, CEO of Server Farm Realty. "Our success in developing the Charlotte data center demonstrates an ability to serve the critical connectivity, colocation, and overall data center needs of enterprise organizations such as those served by Windstream, in turn enabling them to reciprocate that same superior service and success onto their customers."

The new facility will offer 2N modular design to support as-needed scalability, 3000kVA of day 1 utility capacity that may be expanded to more than 12MVA and 1215kW of day 1 usable UPS capacity which may be scaled to more than 3600 kW. Additional features include high-capacity, burstable, carrier-neutral Internet connectivity through several Tier 1 Internet providers and an on-site NOC that is fully staffed 24x7x365 to provide security, technical and remote-hands support and network monitoring. The new data center will also feature access to a multi-tenant infrastructure like Enterprise Cloud, EMC and NetApp SAN/NAS, and F5 GTM/LTM platforms. Cisco and Juniper network and security platforms will also be available.
