The MSP space is one of the hottest segments of the tech industry as businesses continue to migrate to cloud-based solutions in lieu of their traditional on-premises deployments. This puts a huge opportunity in front of MSPs, but many aren’t able to take advantage, because they lack the expertise or the technology – or both – to expand their service offerings without sacrificing service quality.
One of the things Ryan Walsh, chief channel officer at Pax8, says is a key focus for his company is simplifying the cloud for Pax8’s MSP partners. He says it’s his job to make sure the company is bringing the right cloud solutions to MSPs that will help them grow their MRR.
That means Pax8 shoulders much of the burden for finding the right solutions for MSPs. As a distributor of cloud solutions, Pax8, has to ensure its community of vendors provides the quality and breadth of services to allow MSPs, ideally, to consolidate their IT relationships to a single vendor.
Today, there’s no bigger need than security. We’re hearing about new breaches every day, and cyber attacks are constantly finding new ways to circumvent existing security measures, which means IT teams have a full-time job with security alone. That’s why outsourcing to a third party, whose sole domain is security, is a logical move, in order to ensure the best defense against the latest threats. Leaving any holes in your security posture is “not worth the risk,” Pax’s Chief Channel Officer told us in a recent interview.
With that in mind, it’s not surprising that Pax8 continues to add to its security partnerships. Already with 10 security partners, the company announced at MSP Expo 2020 it has added Novacoast to its portfolio of security relationships. Today, it has added yet another, announcing a partnership with Bitdefender.
“As cyberattacks continue to rise, it is critical for partners to provide robust cloud security stacks to their clients,” said Walsh. “With the addition of Bitdefender’s cloud security solutions—custom-built for the MSP—partners can fully protect customers against ransomware, zero-day malware, fileless attacks, and other sophisticated threats with one agent, managed from a single console.”
Bitdefender already protects more than 500 million systems globally, with a presence in 150 countries, and its technology is embedded in more than 38% of the world’s security solutions. The company was named a Leader in the recent Forrester Wave report on Cloud Workload Security.

Security is one of the greatest areas of opportunity for MSPs as they seek to increase their value and become the single IT vendor to clients. The 2020 edition of the event recently concluded in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and the 2021 edition will take place at the brand new Miami Beach Convention Center, June 22-25, 2021. Special attention will be given to helping MSPs understand the business side, including marketing, customer acquisition, benchmarking and metrics, compliance, vendor relationships, and other key areas that drive growth.
