VMware’s vCloud Air environment for building private clouds is having a banner week as scores of companies certify their products with VMware Ready status. Three offerings from Riverbed Technology, a provider of application performance infrastructure, have achieved the designation and are now supported on VMware vCloud Air.
The Riverbed SteelApp Traffic Manager, Riverbed SteelCentral Services Controller for SteelApp and Riverbed SteelHead CX have achieved VMware Ready vCloud Air status. Riverbed has also joined the access tier of the vCloud Air ISV Partner program, with a listing on VMware’s Solution Exchange. Riverbed’s offerings aim to help the “hybrid enterprise,” comprised of a mix of on-premises and cloud-based services and applications running in both private data centers and the public cloud, achieve peak performance.
The solutions create the foundation for Riverbed’s Application Performance Platform, which lets customers take advantage of location-independent computing and the flexibility to host apps and data in the optimal locations for their business. This in turn enables efficient delivery of applications while reducing business operations costs and increasing employee productivity.
Riverbed also announced enhancements to its Riverbed SteelCentral Network Planning and Configuration Management product family. Highlights include a NetAuditor that ensures availability of network services by detecting network device configuration errors and preventing outages of critical services. The company has also added a NetPlanner to help customers plan for network resiliency as networks change and grow, and Net Collector that is designed to reduce the time and effort spent manually collecting and reconciling network data by automating the process.
“As performance troubleshooting teams know all too well, relying on out-of-date network change, topology and configuration data while keeping up with business-critical network and application obligations drives high IT operational costs and reduces staff productivity,” said Nik Koutsoukos, senior director, product marketing, SteelCentral at Riverbed. “SteelCentral Network Planning and Configuration Management solutions help overwhelmed IT staff keep their network in compliance with an ever-increasing number of regulatory, organizational and security policies. At the same time, the solution reduces outages due to misconfiguration by up to 70 percent using automated network configuration analysis instead of manual methods.”
