Masergy Communications Inc. is expanding its managed services portfolio with the acquisition of Global DataGuard, Inc. The company specializes in patented technology that leverages machine learning and expert human intelligence, which Masergy will use to enhance its Security as a Service Suite.
The company has now added Unified Enterprise Security and Professional Services to its managed offerings thanks to the acquisition, providing a fully-integrated system architecture that supports cloud, premise and hybrid IT environments. The new offering includes 24/7 Security Control Center monitoring and reporting; patented adaptive and predictive network behavioral analysis; advanced threat and vulnerability management and a host of additional features.
"In today's rapidly evolving threat landscape, discrete signature or rule-based security solutions alone are not adequate from a risk management perspective,” said Chris MacFarland, CEO of Masergy.
“Cyber attacks are only going to become more intense and sophisticated -- it's a new battlefield. The acquisition of Global DataGuard uniquely positions Masergy to deliver solutions engineered to address these advanced persistent threats."
Unified Enterprise Security solutions also provide a security threat intelligence dashboard and security information and event management (SIEM). The offerings include intrusion detection and prevention capabilities; managed firewall services and intelligent internet management. Masergy Professional Services include comprehensive security and forensic audits; compliance and penetration testing; vulnerability assessments and risk management.
The Global DataGuard acquisition marks the latest in a series of expansion moves for Masergy, with the company acquiring Broadcore in 2012 in a bid to move into the cloud-based unified communications space. The company spent last year beefing up its partner ecosystem with the expansion of its Marketplace for Cloud Services, and teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in February. That partnership enables the company’s customers to have direct, private access to AWS throughout North America through Masergy’s managed cloud network.
"This transaction is a win for both our customers and our employees,” said Scott Paly, CEO of Global DataGuard. “Masergy's focus on ongoing innovation and its commitment to delivering a superior client experience is completely consistent with our core operating tenets. Together, we will accelerate our rate of innovation and service leadership in cyber security."
