Pivotal Joins Xtium Partner Program to Offer Cloud-Based Backup and Managed Services

By Laura Stotler

MSP Pivotal Technologies group has partnered with Xtium, Inc., a provider of managed cloud hosting and online backup and virtual disaster recovery services. Pivotal has joined the company’s partner program and is offering Xtium’s cloud-based solutions to their own customers.

Xtium cloud services include online and disk-based backup and managed application and desktop hosting solutions. Two of the MSP’s customers are already using Xtium services, and the companies are working together to offer fully managed, value-added cloud solutions.

Family law practice Barnes & Diel is one of the Pivotal clients taking advantage of Xtium’s offerings. The firm is using the cloud-based solutions to enable employees to access their desktops in the courtroom or from any remote location, which has had significant benefits for their business.

The market for backup and disaster recovery services is growing rapidly and services providers are routinely rolling out recovery-as-a-service (RaaS) solutions. Research and Markets predicts the market for RaaS and cloud-based business continuity will grow from $640.8 million this year to $5.77 billion by 2018 at an astounding 55.2 percent CAGR. Growth will largely be attributed to cost savings realized through the “pay as you go model” prevalent with cloud services versus the high capital and operating expenses required to maintain traditional solutions.

“I saw value in Xtium's approach and overall platform of cloud services,” said Jim Law, president, Pivotal Technologies Group. “The partnership providers a higher value to my customer base than independent service offerings from a number of different service providers. Xtium enables me to offer technology as fully-managed solutions to my customers.”

“Xtium and Pivotal have come together for a common goal: to offer enterprise-class technology via the cloud that allows customers to be both efficient and more competitive in their own business as a result of using our platform,” added Law.
