Halcyon Updates Reporting Solution for MSPs in Support of Cross-Platform Environments

By Laura Stotler

Halcyon Software has updated its reporting solution to support AIX and Linux platforms, as well as IBM and Windows. The company unveiled its Advanced Reporting Suite V9, geared toward managed service providers (MSPs) and large corporate data centers.

The cross-platform solution has also been updated to include an online portal, providing role-based access to reports according to individual authorization levels. This provides customers with a way to review the level of service they are receiving.

MSPs may use the new version to let clients run and view their own customized reports via the web portal. Reports may include corporate logos to help distinguish different brands managed under a single portfolio.

A study conducted earlier this year by IT Business Edge shows that more and more companies will be implementing cloud-based reporting during the next few years. Based on a poll of 1,200 respondents, the study found that more than 50 percent of companies will be using cloud-based business intelligence and reporting tools by the end of next year.

Moreover, nearly three in four of those surveyed said cloud-based reporting tools and software-as-a-service (SaaS) business intelligence solutions are crucial to meeting their strategic objectives. The same number claimed they will be using the cloud for those initiatives by the end of 2014.

"Advanced Reporting Suite V9 is a powerful tool that maps front-end service obligations through to back-end processing and has been updated to bring it into line with Halcyon's new generation of web-enabled products,” said Carole Chandler, sales and marketing director at Halcyon Software. “It is the latest product to be announced as part of a major program of investment in the re-engineering of our monitoring and automation tools to make them easy to access and use without requiring specialist skills."

Features of the updated offering include dynamic reports on percentage performance against SLAs; capacity planning trends and analysis; processor loading; performance response times; resource utilization and other factors that may affect service levels.
