MSPs Unite as BTG Creates Mobility Division with Acquisition of CelPro Associates

By Laura Stotler

A major acquisition has taken place in the managed services space, which will enable development and deployment of mobile services and bring your own device (BYOD) policies. Breakthrough Technology Group (BTG) announced it has acquired managed services provider (MSP) CelPro Associates.

The company will now make up the Mobility Division of BTG, known as BTG Mobility. CelPro is a mobile systems integrator as well as an MSP and advisor to a variety of customers, including corporate and government clients.

The company meshes well with BTG’s own managed services operations, which are increasingly expanding in support of demand for mobile device management (MDM). The company has recognized major growth in the remote workforce space and more and more customers are requiring support for BYOD.

A recent ABI Research report indicates smartphone virtualization activations are expected to exceed eight million devices by 2018, representing 20-fold growth. Activation rates will top 114 percent throughout the world, with North America and Western Europe leading the pack. That means the demand for increasingly flexible and cost effective MDM solutions is going to skyrocket.

The newly created BTG Mobility will offer a variety of solutions in support of MDM and BYOD. These include multiple platform monitoring and support for operating systems including iOS, Android, RIM and Microsoft. The service provider will also offer BYOD policy and program development along with software and solution design. Other services will include mobile application development and deployment, wireless deployment management and best practice consulting.

"Mobility is at the heart of the technical evolution, as mobile app development and deployment affects every corner of operations as part of an ongoing quest to improve productivity,” said Jeff Kaplan, CEO and founder of BTG. "With carriers like AT&T continuing to build out 4G networks, businesses will need a trusted partner to help deploy the most scalable, secure solutions. BTG Mobility not only addresses the paradigm shift in business computing and communications, but is also a prescient examination of what the marketplace is calling for."
