Ericsson Awarded for Managed IT Services in Middle East Region

By Laura Stotler

Ericsson has been recognized for its work in the IT services space. The company received accolades at the Network World Middle East 2013 ceremony in Dubai, which featured a number of key players from the area's information and communications technology (ICT) industry.

Ericsson has been a pioneer in the managed services space and works to support telecom operators throughout the Middle East region through IT solutions. The growth potential in that area has fueled expansion within Ericsson as well, and managed IT services are now becoming a global endeavor for the company.

The company provides a variety of managed services, software and infrastructure in the ICT space for telecom operators and other industries. Around 40 percent of the world's mobile traffic goes through Ericsson's network and the company also supports customer networks servicing more than 2.5 billion subscriptions.

"Being recognized for our achievements by our peers in the industry is quite an honor and we are pleased to receive this award which recognizes our achievements in managed services," said Ahmed Seemab, head of Managed Services Service Lines, Ericsson Region Middle East. Seemad accepted the award on behalf of Ericsson.

"Ericsson's leadership has extended far beyond the telecom market and now embraces the whole ICT industry with innovative end-to-end mobile communications solutions and services," he added. "Our vision of a networked society where people in this region, businesses and devices are connected at all times, represents our determination to help build a truly connected society."
