MRV Communications Recruits New Leadership for Global Operations, Sales

By Shankar Pandiath

MRV Communications Inc., the optical communications network infrastructure solutions and services provider, recently announced the appointment of two new executives to its network equipment business.

While Tim Pillow is the new senior vice president of global marketing and sales, Dennis Henderson joins as vice president of operations.

In keeping with MRV’s long-standing commitment to industry excellence and leadership, Henderson and Pillow are industry veterans and bring in tested experience in creating strategic business development programs.

Their presence is certain to drive MRV’s leadership and expertise in the global communication marketplace.

With over 25 years of industry experience, Pillow is joining MRV from OFS Fitel LLC, where he spent three years as senior vice president of global marketing and sales. Prior to joining OFS, Pillow held senior positions in sales, marketing and general management at Nortel Networks, Lucent and Westell Technologies.

While at OFS, he not only achieved double-digit growth in fiber-to-the-home and data center solutions, but was also responsible for laying the foundation for a successful new business footprint in Africa, enhancing channel coverage in Europe and strengthening OFS' position in both Asia Pacific and Russia.

In his new position, Pillow’s expertise in driving revenue growth, new product initiation and commercialization, will only support and strengthen their understanding of the global market, and at the same time offer depth to their marketing, operations, product management and strategy.

Henderson comes to MRV from his position as a senior director of global operations at ARRIS Solutions. While at ARRIS, he provided leadership in areas that included the introduction of new processes, company procurement, quality and test engineering activities, and supplier management. Before ARRIS Solutions, Henderson was the senior director of global supply chain at BigBand Networks, where he had played a key role in the implementation of efficient forecasting for reducing costs and driving supply base.

Henderson has demonstrated a chain of success stories in maintaining manufacturing, establishment of outsourcing and a variety of critical business relationships with Tier 1 partners. He has developed and shown a proven ability for driving the necessary changes for achieving optimum performance.  He now brings this expertise in worldwide program management to MRV as vice president of operations of its network related equipment business.

Dave Stehlin, chief executive officer at MRV, said the company will continue to execute on delivering the best networking solutions while differentiating in this highly competitive marketplace through value creation and high performance. He firmly believes both Dennis and Tim have extensive expertise and knowledge in the development of critical organizations and in the implementation of successful initiatives in the global technology environment. Their recruitment supports MRV’s commitment to strengthening the organization.
