Hornetsecurity Enhances 365 Total Backup with Microsoft Planner Support

By Stefania Viscusi

Cybersecurity solutions provider Hornetsecurity announced an upgrade to its 365 Total Backup solution for Microsoft 365. It now includes comprehensive backup and recovery support for Microsoft Planner to ensure that critical business data within Microsoft 365 is securely backed up and easily recoverable.

The upgrade follows Microsoft's rollout of Planner, a new tool designed for task and project management. Hornetsecurity's update is available for customers using its 365 Total Backup products and 365 Total Protection (Plans 3 and 4), at no additional cost.

The new enhanced support for Planner adds to the existing suite of backup and recovery features for other key Microsoft 365 applications, including Mailbox, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams, bolstering GDPR compliance and overall data security.

One of the standout features of this update is the granular restore option, which allows administrators to select multiple restore points. This feature provides a visual timeline of the plan's development, enabling easy restoration of specific tasks.

There is also a full restore function that allows for the restoration of all plans associated with one or more Microsoft 365 Groups, either to the same group, a different group, or a zip archive. This is particularly beneficial during organizational restructuring, so plans can be seamlessly migrated to new groups or archived for offline review and long-term storage.

To further enhance security, Hornetsecurity has also introduced a 'Four-Eye Approval' feature which requires a second layer of authorization for any data deletions or changes to retention settings. The new feature is an effort to mitigate risks posed by cybercriminals or rogue administrators who might delete backup data or alter critical settings. It ensures greater accountability and minimizes the risk of accidental or malicious data loss.

"Our commitment to providing unparalleled data protection solutions is demonstrated through our continuous enhancements to 365 Total Backup and our 365 Total Protection suite. By incorporating support for the increasingly popular Microsoft Planner and introducing the 'Four-Eye Approval' feature, we are reinforcing the security and reliability we offer our customers and anticipating their needs. These updates ensure that businesses can manage their data across Microsoft 365 with greater confidence and resilience, safeguarding against both accidental and malicious data loss,” said Daniel Hofmann, CEO of Hornetsecurity.
