Foxit Brings AI to Document Analysis with New Research Agent

By Erik Linask

With the deluge of information they are under, knowledge workers face the daunting task of dissecting vast, intricate documents to extract the pieces of data they need.  From exhaustive academic papers and detailed clinical trial reports to comprehensive white papers and usability studies, dense texts are laden with technical jargon, inconsistent formatting, and extensive sections that demand significant time, specialized expertise, and intense focus for full comprehension.  It’s enough to actually prevent workers from reading the full documents, increasing the likelihood they’ll miss important details.

Foxit is trying to address this pain point head-on with the launch of its new AI-Powered Research Agent.

This intelligent tool will change how users interact with complex documents, enabling both channel partners and their end customers to achieve what previously consumed hours, if not days, in mere minutes, while extracting concise, structured, and meaningful insights.

Foxit's AI-Powered Research Agent leverages advanced AI to automatically deconstruct lengthy and technically challenging documents into five clearly defined, digestible sections, providing an immediate snapshot of crucial information:

  • Overview:  Succinct summary outlining the document's primary purpose and scope.
  • Research methods:  Clear explanation of how the study or research was conducted.
  • Research results:  Core findings and key data points extracted.
  • Conclusions:  Interpretation of what the results signify and their implications.
  • Glossary:  Definitions for any technical or specialized terms used within the document.

Foxit product manager Lara Temel says that, for channel partners, the new solution presents “a golden opportunity to deliver high-value, high-impact innovation to clients who are buried trying to make heads or tails out of complex documents.  It’s not just another feature, it’s a differentiator that positions them as a forward-thinking solution provider.”

For MSPs looking to expand their reach into new markets, it also gives them a new tool to support clients in a range of sectors, including education and research, healthcare, legal, engineering and manufacturing, government, and others.

For the end-user, Temel adds that the tool eliminates the “mental drag of manual analysis, reduces misinterpretation, and lets users act with confidence” by transforming laborious decoding into clean, structured summaries in seconds.

The Research Agent is the latest addition to Foxit's suite of AI-powered features, all designed to enhance productivity and streamline document workflows. This expanding toolset now includes:

  • Document translation:  Instant translation of entire documents into multiple languages.
  • Read aloud:  An accessibility feature that vocalizes document content for easier review and consumption.
  • Web search:  The ability to enrich AI responses with real-time data fetched directly from the internet.
  • Chat history:  A refreshed left-side panel for organizing and quickly accessing past conversations.
  • Temporary chat:  A privacy-focused option allowing users to ask questions without retaining conversation history.
  • Document view:  A convenient side-by-side display of the uploaded document(s) while interacting with the AI chat.

The Research Agent fits squarely into Foxit’s commitment to reducing friction and boosting efficiency in everyday workflows.  With its AI tools, Foxit enables knowledge workers to “work smarter.”

At the same time, this gives MSPs an opportunity to enhance their value proposition, differentiate their services, and deepen their strategic partnerships with clients – in addition to the prospect of serving new industries.
