Intuit's Technology Platform Drives Innovation

Intuit's Technology Platform Drives Innovation

By Stefania Viscusi

Through its 40-year history, Intuit, a global financial technology platform, has led through innovation. The company has, over recent years, shifted from on tax and accounting focus to a platform company focused on making a meaningful impact on consumers and businesses and powering their prosperity.

From TurboTax to Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, Intuit continues to focus on innovation through its technology architecture, which all its applications share as it supports more than 100 million customers.

“As the AI-driven expert platform, Intuit is rapidly innovating to solve our customers’ most important financial problems,” said Tessel. “Our platform, powered by a core set of technology capabilities, enables us to move faster than ever. By tapping into the most modern building blocks and leveraging Intuit’s technology platform, our teams are creating new products and services for our customers at an unparalleled speed.”

At the core of the rapid innovation of its platform is its modern SaaS development environment, which supports developers as they work quickly to deliver code, as well as the acceleration of AI and machine learning capabilities. With all of this at work, Inuit technologists are sharing, collaborating, and rapidly building solutions that solve customers' problems.

Other examples of innovation happening quickly include the use of open source infrastructure tools, like Kubernetes and Argo and its more recent project Numaproj, to further drive development velocity through AIOps innovation.

The company also created a data map it calls “city map” to unify data and make it easily and quickly accessible and has advanced data integration capabilities with Intuit Data Exchange, so information from and to third-party providers can happen quickly and easily.

Where it truly excels, of course, is its financial technology platform, which the company is always evolving so customers across all tools can keep more money in their pockets and make financial decisions with more confidence.

In QuickBooks users get a categorization system for financial transactions that "learns" from user preferences. With TurboTax Live, they get AI-driven expert matchmaking for real-time predictions in as little as 500 milliseconds during peak traffic.

Intuit also made it possible for customers who use Credit Karma tools to have personalized experiences and easily transfer data from one product to another. Together, TurboTax and  Credit Karma Money made refunds and refund advance deposits available up to five days earlier.

“We are a significantly different company than we were five years ago,” said Tessel. “We evolved from siloed stack to one platform with capabilities. It allows us to use cutting-edge technologies and innovate with speed for our customers. We created a flywheel; we get faster and better all the time and we can deliver new value to customers every single day.”
