CompTIA Expands Reach with New UK Organization

By Luke Bellos

Nonprofit technology association CompTIA recently announced the launch of a new CompTIA ISAO (Information Sharing and Analysis Organization) division in the United Kingdom. Founded in 2020, CompTIA ISAO acts as an industry resource for technology professionals to advance cybersecurity resiliency, where members can share and analyze data regarding online threats, learn best- practices for prevention, and offer advice to protect workers from targeted attacks.

The professional world is currently in the midst of a cybercrime pandemic, with many businesses and organizations at high risk due to prematurely switching to digital processes for business activity. As more work continues to shift to the digital world, malicious actors and online hackers are devising more elaborate strategies to exploit potential victims. Due to this unprecedented rise, organizations like CompTIA ISAO are protecting members from becoming another statistic through education and collaboration.

"We are in a time of unprecedented and malicious hacking activity, much of which is targeted specifically at technology product, service and solution companies," said MJ Shoer, Senior VP, Executive Director of the CompTIA ISAO. "CompTIA aims to improve the cybersecurity landscape in the U.K. by bringing together the know-how and power of the industry to deliver timely, relevant, actionable threat intelligence that companies can use to protect themselves and more importantly, to keep their customers safe and secure."

Since US-based memberships began last year, more than 1,200 companies have joined, with notable brands like Dell Technologies and Sophos offering technical resources for ISAO as industry partners.

"In the current climate of cybercrime, one of the best ways to sharpen the industry's defences against today's cyberattacks, including ransomware, is through industry experts sharing threat intelligence. This move to launch the CompTIA ISAO in the UK will advance industry collaboration and innovation, and Sophos is proud to be a part of this effort," said James Wilson, Product Director, Sophos.”
