Mergers amongst MSP vendors continue apace as eFolder pulled Anchor into its fold to strengthen its file sync footing.
eFolder does business in the areas of backup, business continuity and disaster recovery. Anchor Box LLC adds to that line file share and sync capabilities. The combined tools will be offered to MSPs to turn into their own services. eFolder now claims to be the only vendor that can offer MSPs a full line of storage protection and file sync software.
The Anchor file sync, unlike lower end tools such as DropBox, was built with the rigors of compliance in mind. And when combined with secure storage, it has an even better regulatory story to tell. The company hopes that MSPs can make this very same pitch when selling to clients who care about data leakage and need higher-end tools.
And because the file sync is in the cloud, end users can get at files from any location through most any device with browser support.
The Anchor tool is built for enterprises, and includes the ability to move data from corporate file servers into the cloud. Once in the cloud, the files are fully encrypted, and for admins, integrated with Active Directory.
For BYOD use, the files can be remotely wiped if a device is lost, stolen, or the employee terminated.
MSPs can white label the solution, and it can be deployed in multi-tenant environments, or a private cloud in the client’s shop.
One business partner likes the new combo. “We have long been an eFolder partner and we recently just added Anchor to our portfolio. The Anchor software solves key security challenges for our clients, delivers powerful management features that are essential to our MSP business model, and has become a highly profitable new recurring revenue stream for us,” said Phillip Long, CEO of Business Information Solutions, Inc., of Mobile, Ala.
eFolder thinks it made a good buy. “MSPs want it all – cloud file sync features that business users demand, vast amounts of cloud storage, multi-tenant management and branding, security and HIPAA compliance, PSA integration, wholesale pricing that leads to big margins, and a vendor that is deeply committed to the channel and won’t compete directly. eFolder and Anchor are now uniquely positioned to deliver it all,” said Kevin Hoffman, CEO of eFolder. “This acquisition is a perfect match – we’re both exclusively focused on the needs of MSPs and VARs.”
The File Sync Story
File sync has long been a huge issue. Few of us use just one computer, but we have a need to get at our key files when we need them.
Keeping work and home PCs in sync is a major concern. Now with smartphones, tablets, and more data sharing, that problem has become a nightmare.
One eFolder MSP sees the need for enterprise grade file sync. “Consumer-grade file sync solutions introduce massive data leakage risks for our business clients. With eFolder Cloud File Sync we get business-class features and a HIPAA compliant storage cloud, allowing us to confidently deploy a cloud file sync solution as a part of our fully managed service offering,” said Dave Watts, President of NetFusion, Inc., a Los Angeles-based MSP.
