C5 Alliance Snaps up MSP to Boost Channel Islands Service

By Doug Barney

C5 Alliance, an IT solutions provider in the Channel Islands, just snapped up the Itex group of companies, which provides hosting and managed services for the area.

This MSP Today reporter did okay in geography, but had little exact clue where the Channel Islands are. Turns out Channel stands for the English Channel and this archipelago is considered a British Crown Dependency.

Everyone deserves good managed services, even if your population is slight, like the Channel Islands’ 170,000 some-odd inhabitants.

Out of that number, Itex employees more than 150 people, all focused on supporting secure offshore data centers (or “centres” as Itex puts it, mate!), and hosting centers. The managed part comes from tight monitoring and management.

C5 Alliance solutions tackle compliance, training, business intelligence, collaboration and business process management, among others.

Meanwhile, Itex managed services include disaster recovery and business continuity, data center, operations, managed networks, operations, border security and server management.

This is big news for Channel Island IT customers. “The completion of this deal will create the first locally owned, full-service, offshore technology player in the marketplace, bringing together the best of C5’s Professional Services with Itex’s Managed Services and Hosting Solutions,” said Mark Loane, chief executive officer of C5 Alliance. “The combined skills of both companies will create further significant opportunities to promote economic growth initiatives for the Channel Islands.”

Itex believes data centers and IT services belong together. “The synergies between the two companies’ service offerings make this a logical step. C5’s professional service business complements Itex’s managed services and hosting solutions perfectly,” said Ian Jauncey, managing director of Itex. “This is a positive move for both staff and clients who will benefit from the additional support from a larger team whilst still enjoying the highest level service delivery.”
