Webroot Partner Adds to MSP Moxie

Webroot Partner Adds to MSP Moxie

Webroot Inc. is well known for its security software, often sold as packaged software to consumers and businesses, but also available in Software –as- a- Service (SaaS) form.

Just having cloud services wasn’t enough for Webroot. The company also wanted a piece of the MSP pie. So this past December, Webroot launched an initiative to attract MSPs to carry its endpoint security line.

Part of this plan involves Australian-based Xari Group and its LabTech remote monitoring and management (RMM) service. By offering LabTech in conjunction with Webroot Secure Anywhere Business – Endpoint Protection, MSPs can provide a full managed security service.

These MSPs can offer the Webroot tool right along with the Labtech RMM service. And with the Labtech RMM, MSPs have greater control over the management of security services, both across the cloud and into the customer’s network.

“Webroot is the perfect partner for MSPs looking to make endpoint security a profitable portion of their business instead of the loss leader that it is today,” said Jeff Santelices, Webroot vice president of worldwide demand fulfillment in December when it announced its MSP channel program.

“With our advanced cloud security technologies and market-leading network of partners that include LabTech Software, our customers gain exceptional management automation and superior support while being completely protected against advanced threats and disruptions.”

The idea is to help MSPs offer a cloud endpoint security service with remote management built in, which hastens the MSPs’ ability deliver new security services.

The security service itself should also be more secure, as LabTech can monitor customer services looking for security breaches through the Webroot tool.

And when the customer does have a problem such as a malware attack, Webroot allows the MSP to roll back quickly, without having to do a total reimage of the infected machine.

Webroot is aiming its MSP partners at the SMB market, the company’s traditional strength.

The company has a few other deals in its pocket. Webroot recently agreed to help NEC Corp. add security services to Mobile Security Pro, an NEC cloud service.

Webroot also struck a deal with SOTI, a provider of management services for mobile devices. Under the terms, SOTI will add Webroot security services to its mobile device management offering.
