Amdocs Chooses Bulgaria's Mobiltel to Manage its Operations

By Shankar Pandiath

U.S. based Amdocs, a company specializing in customer experience systems, has been selected by Mobiltel, Bulgaria to manage its operations for the next five years.

Amdocs has been delivering the most advanced Business and Operational Support System (BSS-OSS) to global service providers. As per the deal, Amdocs will be managing most of Mobiltel’s IT operations including Mobiltel’s data center, business support systems and its disaster recovery operations across broadband, mobile and IPTV lines of business platforms. Additional managed services such as hardware procurement and maintenance, application development and integration management will also be provided by Amdocs.

Mobiltel, more commonly known as Mtel, is a part of the large Telekom Austria Group. It is Bulgaria’s largest mobile service provider. Mtel aims to improve the operational and business performance of the company and provide better service to its customers.

Mtel has been using Amdocs’ ordering, billing, rating customer management and product catalog system since 2007. As per the new contract, Amdocs will not only support and maintain existing Amdocs systems at Mtel, but also other third-party systems that Mtel has been using.

Horst Pertl, chief technology officer at Mtel, said that with the new deal Amdocs will expand their existing relationships and incorporate their famed IT operational support.

Rebecca Prudhomme, vice president of product and solutions marketing at Amdocs, said that with a single supplier, they will be able to free themselves from daily IT operations and be able to focus on what it does best – marketing, customer service and business development.
