On the heels of announcing its “Making Networks Smarter” vision, GENBAND has rolled out a cloud-based service for service providers and channel partners that allows them to brand and offer Unified Communications and Rich Communications Suite (RCS) applications to businesses and consumers.
The cloud service, called NUVia, is powered by GENBAND’s EXPERius platform, and is designed to help service providers fast-track the commercial delivery of multimedia communications applications with minimal upfront capital expenses, according to Jeff Townley, president of GENBAND’s Services Business Unit and Global Operations.
“NUViA offers service providers a radically different model for deploying communications services from what is available today,” Townley said in astatement. “Service providers and channel partners can leverage NUViA’s unprecedented deployment options, including hybrid models with the ability to augment the NUViA-delivered services with in-house applications, to deliver customers a unique, customized and cost-effective alternative to services derived from premises-based equipment.”
With NUViA, in addition to offering service providers the fundamental advantages of cloud-based services, such as a pay-as-you-grow business model and the ability to quickly extend their service footprint, it also provides them with a service delivery model that allows them to customize and differentiate their branded services.
The NUViA Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) product includes HD voice, video, multimedia messaging, mobility, conferencing, Web collaboration, desktop clients, and fixed and mobile convergence. The NUViA RCS allows wireless operators to bring to market expanded multimedia communications services.
NUViA also supports a “build, transfer, own” model that is designed to give service providers a “low-risk, low-barrier-to-entry” and quick path to advanced, rich multimedia IP communications services with the option of building out their own cloud infrastructures in the future. GENBAND’s solutions delivery also allows for the deployment of Unified Communications capabilities in the customer’s cloud.
GENBAND is focusing its resources where service providers, channel partners and the enterprise and consumer markets they serve want answers and need help, according to TechZone360’s Peter Bernstein.
“GENBAND has taken a multi-year look at what the future holds and demands, and have come up with a vision and comprehensive solution sets that are worth a look,” Bernstein wrote, outlining GENBAND’s vision, which is founded on three strategic solution pillars that enable a Smart Core, Smart Edge and Smart Experience.
While GENBAND’s branding in many instances is new, the functionality and positioning speaks the language and to the needs of the community, Bernstein said. Read more about the company’s visionhere.
