EarthLink Deploys Virtualstream's Enterprise-Class Cloud Software to Expand its Cloud Services

By Shankar Pandiath

EarthLink, a renowned provider of communications and IT services, recently announced that it is planning to expand its cloud-based services by deploying the advanced xStream enterprise-class cloud software from Virtualstream.

The latter is a reputable global provider of enterprise class cloud software and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions to enterprises and telecom operators.

EarthLink evaluated innumerable cloud management and provisioning software products, and then determined to choose xStream’s unique capabilities and Virtualstream’s expertise in enterprise cloud to further enhance the former’s cloud based offerings. By implementing xStream software into its cloud-based services platform, EarthLink will provide the SMB customers with an extensive range of enterprise class cloud services to efficiently handle and manage “mission-critical applications.”

The high-end applications of SMB customers require pricing, security, application performance SLAs, compliance, complex network routing, business continuity, and resource pooling.

EarthLink plans to launch the upgraded Virtualstream-powered enterprise-class cloud services in the months to come, which will be initiated by Virtualstream µVM technology, enabling customers to seamlessly optimize their core cloud investments by simply “paying for what they use.”

EarthLink’s data center in Rochester, New York is the first to implement the xStream solution, followed by Dallas, Chicago, San Jose, California and Miami.

The latest xStream implementation is an addition to the line of SMB-focused services offered by EarthLink that enables enterprises to transform from facilities-based IT solutions to a cloud-based environment.

Talking about its plan to deploy Virtualstream’s enterprise cloud solutions, Mike Toplisek, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing at EarthLink, said xStream’s software implementation into their next-generation cloud environment will enable the company to more efficiently serve clients in the SMB market.

EarthLink can attract economies of all levels of skill and scale into small and mid-sized business clients as well – a privilege once provided almost exclusively by larger enterprises.

xStream is a landmark for enterprise class cloud software in the industry, designed and developed for virtual private, private, public and hybrid clouds. It is available as a software, managed or appliance cloud service, and is powered by Virtualstream’s µVM technology.

xStream delivers superior enterprise compliance and security with high-end multi-tenant cloud performance and efficiency SLAs for all the applications within the purview of Web scale and legacy.

Regarding the plan by EarthLink to deploy Virtualstream’s enterprise cloud solutions, Kevin Reid, chief executive officer and chief technology officer at Virtualstream, considers this a smart move. The pricing and flexibility model that Virtualstream’s cloud software offers will enable EarthLink to offer top-notch services to medium and small businesses.

By combining xStream cloud software with their physical network and managed services, EarthLink can further enhance the bundle of cloud solutions it offers to its clients.
