WidePoint Partners with Not-for-profit C4UH to Protect Patient Health and Privacy Records

By Laura Stotler

Managed mobility solutions provider WidePoint Corporation has teamed up with not-for-profit organization C4UH to offer a solution that protects patients’ health and privacy records. The partnership has WidePoint delivering its telecom management, cybersecurity, and identity and data assurance cloud offerings to patients through the not-for-profit.

The solutions are being offered to combat growing incidents of identity theft and data breaches within the commercial sector based on a massive increase in mobile devices and connectivity. When combined with the migration of healthcare records to electronic format, this can create high levels of risk surrounding patients’ private healthcare profiles and histories.

"The WidePoint/C4UH solution allows healthcare organizations to

comply with regulations such as the 'protection of meaningful use data' being pushed by Health and Human Services (HHS) and the 'accountability of prescription distribution' from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)," said John Odden, executive director of C4UH. "The WidePoint/C4UH solution is cost-effective and quicker to implement, and enables credentials to be used across other organizations, obviating the need for individuals to carry multiple credentials."

C4UH strives to help health care organizations, as well as county, state, and federal agencies, to bridge information gaps quickly and cost effectively when funding is not available. The organization helps secure these gaps and loopholes and helps meet other pressing needs surrounding IT and data security.

"We see Healthcare as an important market for our Managed Mobility Services," said Steve L. Komar, CEO and chairman of WidePoint. "According to the CDC, Healthcare is the fastest-growing sector of the U.S. economy, employing over 18 million workers."

Indeed, the healthcare sector is increasingly turning to cloud computing solutions to manage a growing number of IT challenges. According to a new report from MarketsandMarkets, the North American healthcare cloud computing market will reach $6.5 billion by 2018, growing at a CAGR of 29.8 percent from 2013. The market is being driven by a huge number of security, privacy and industry regulations that have created challenges and burdens for many in-house IT departments.

WidePoint’s offerings include managed mobility services, telecom lifecycle management, and cybersecurity solutions. The company delivers its offerings through a secure cloud, providing solutions that meet with government-mandated regulations as well as advanced system requirements. The service provider has specific expertise in certificate-based security solutions, wireless telecom management, and consulting services.
