Transbeam Becomes First MSP to Offer Nationwide Layer 2 Wireless Backup

By Rory Lidstone

Transbeam, an integrated communications provider that has received accolades from the Telecom Association, has launched what it believes is a groundbreaking 4G LTE wireless backup service.

Indeed, the aptly named Transbeam 4G/LTE Wireless Backup is a first of its kind solution that leverages 4G LTE wireless infrastructure to seamlessly connect an underlying wireless providers’ network with Transbeam’s core IP network. Once this is completed, the solution provides instantaneous, secure network backup, private IP failover and business continuity via a true Layer 2 wireless solution.

"We're doing something quite unique and exciting with regard to wireless network backup," said Marc Sellouk, founder and CEO of Transbeam, in a statement. "Transbeam 4G/LTE Wireless Backup is a Layer 2 solution, which enables 'same IP' failover and the ability to legitimately offer identical services and application failover in an outage. It's instant, secure and seamless."

Some of Transbeam 4G/LTE Wireless Backup’s key differentiators include the fact that it is provided over a nationwide wireless LTE network, as well as its Layer 2 delivery, which ensure sprivate IP failover and VLAN Scheme flexibility. Furthermore, the solution supports speeds of up to 12 Mbps on the downlink and up to 5 Mbps on the uplink with latency of 50ms over an MPLS, Private Line or DIA connection.

As for installation, Wireless Backup can either be installed professionally by a Transbeam technician or by the customer, while all equipment is included and configured by Transbeam. Even after it’s installed, the solution is covered by 24/7 technical support.

Finally, aside from the safeguards and efficiencies provided by a private layer 2 wireless backup solution, Transbeam 4G/LTE Wireless Backup offers the diversity inherent of a wireless connection, as compared to a traditional wired connection. It is also possible to configure the solution to provide last mile connectivity to the company’s carrier customers.
