Many when choosing a cloud provider look at price, the array of apps, performance, and of course security. But some have a concern just as pressing – compliance.
Peak 10 says if compliance is on your wish list, the company is more than ready to oblige.
Peak 10 claims it just went through a rigorous audit and assessment that scrutinized how well it handles a number of compliance standards, including to SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, PCI DSS, Safe Harbor, HIPAA.
The results were apparently good as the provider now claims it has one of the best compliance programs in the cloud business. It also claims at least one first, such as being “the first in the industry to complete a Type 2 SOC 1 examination under the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 16 and International Standard on Assurance Engagements (ISAE) No. 3402,” the company said.
Peak 10 has always touted high levels of compliance as a differentiator.
“A strong compliance program with careful adherence to industry-specific standards provides our customers protection of their critical data and applications. This has always been and will continue to be a top priority for Peak 10 and we take extraordinary measures to safeguard and maintain the systems our customers depend upon,” said David Kidd, director of quality assurance and compliance for Peak 10. “Peak 10 makes significant investments to help ensure our data centers and cloud services meet the compliance needs of our customers; this is a commitment which gives our customers peace-of-mind and helps reduce the cost of our customers’ own compliance programs.”
Besides being evaluated for Type 2, SOC 1, Peak 10 also passed exams for:
- Type 2, SOC 2
- Type 2, SOC 3
- Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS)
- HIPAA and
- Safe Harbor
The company believes it is rare to have such a range of compliance features. “There are very few cloud providers that are able to provide a compliance program with this depth; SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, PCI DSS, Safe Harbor and HIPAA compliance are of critical importance to our customers and that makes it important to us as well,” said Peak 10’s Kidd. “Secure access to critical information systems is of utmost importance to our customers, especially those in the financial, retail, and healthcare industries, which is why we made it a key part of our compliance program.”
Peak 10 and HIPAA
One of the biggest compliance needs is for health care related companies to abide by HIPAA, and here Peak 10 has a strong story. In fact, one customer, health care alliance Premier, trusted Peak 10 enough to use it for disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS).
The DRaaS tool is called Recovery Cloud and is based on multi-tenant cloud infrastructure.
Peak 10 has 10 data centers spread across the U.S. Besides DRaaS, Peak 10 offers managed services, private clouds and cloud services that are HIPAA and PCI compliant.
