Wheelings & Dealings: ConnectWise Smartens Up to File Share Partner

Wheelings & Dealings: ConnectWise Smartens Up to File Share Partner

By Doug Barney

ConnectWise spent the better part of 2013 forging partnership after partnership, and most recently snared Soonr, which will integrate its file share and collaboration services with the ConnectWise service management and automation toolset.

ConnectWise’s PSA toolset “provides MSPs, VARs and ISVs control over the day-to-day management of their business, including management of help desk, sales and marketing, finance, projects, procurement and inventory, as well as dashboards and reporting. With the integration, Soonr partners now can easily manage provisioning, billing, account control and more, through their ConnectWise portal,” the partners said.

ConnectWise has also been one active vendor lately. This fall ConnectWise partnered up with VirtualTone, which sells VoIP services through MSPs, and it struck a strategic partnership with LabTech Software to combine service management and remote monitoring and management (RMM) into one essential offering.

Soonr Not Waiting for Partners

Like ConnectWise, Soonr is now in the heated process of attracting partners, including MSPs.

The company recently announced a new channel program, the Soonr Success Partner Program, that hopes to attract VARs, distributors, solution providers and of course the all mighty MSPs.

The new program is backed by an array of service plans for partners.

Soonr is providing a comprehensive program to reach those customers through the partner they trust and with the services and support they need. The Soonr Success Partner Program offers Solution Providers, MSPs, VARs, and Distributors with a highly competitive program that enables their success, through substantial margin opportunities, Soonr Workplace Free Trials, a customized provisioning Partner Portal, 1:1 training and marketing support, and professional services opportunities,” the company said.

Sharing Files Heats Up

File sharing and sync is a hot area as more and more users are more mobile and use more devices. Instead of loading all the PC and mobile devices with client software and having the file sync and share engine on an in-house server, it is far easier to plunk it all in the cloud. This is true for small shops, and just as true for enterprises who must meet the demands of hundreds or thousands of increasing mobile and multi-device end-users.

The file sync and share space is now big enough that Forrester Research follows it as a category, as it did in its recent “Forrester Wave: File Sync and Share Platforms, Q3 2013” report. “The explosive proliferation of powerful mobile devices has led to employee demand for

solutions that will allow seamless access to enterprise content from any device. Solutions

like Dropbox, originally developed for consumer usage, have barged into the enterprise,

forcing IT to reconsider how to balance its portfolio against consumer demands,” Forrester wrote. “File sync and share is borne of two requirements: the need to sync files on all devices

and share files with colleagues and partners. These two capabilities cover scenarios ranging from e-mail attachment replacement to file system replacement, from casual partner collaboration to compliant workflow in regulated industries.”
