Telehouse Offers IP Transit Service to Serve SME Market

By Laura Stotler

Companies in the niche category of requiring small to medium-sized IP services can now benefit from a new offering from Telehouse America. The managed service provider (MSP) is offering an IP Transit service geared toward the needs of that specialized market.

The new IP Transit service from Telehouse provides connectivity of 10 to 500 Mbps to the company's data center customers. Internet network capacity includes full protection as well as redundant global IP connectivity that are managed on a 24x7 basis.

One of the main benefits of the service is that it's competitively priced and tailored to those businesses requiring only small to midsize IP services. This largely underserved group is rapidly growing in size, and has unique needs that cannot be adequately met by service providers in the business of managing large IP networks and services.

"Telehouse's IP Transit service offering fills a gap left by other ISPs that are not able to provide comparable pricing," said Fred Cannone, director of sales and marketing Telehouse America. "Companies needing to fulfill small to medium-sized IP requirements will be able to do so while benefiting from Telehouse's low cost pricing structure."

According to Insight Research, hosted service models for SMEs are on the rise, particularly VoIP and enhanced telecom services. The company predicts the opportunity for this market exceeds 20 million lines, with more than three million SMEs geographically located within two-way capable cable systems. That opens up the playing field well beyond telcos, which have traditionally served this market niche.

Telehouse recognizes this market opportunity, and is setting out to expand its portfolio of IT solutions. The company, which is carrier neutral, offers cloud services along with disaster recovery, security and content delivery networks (CDNs).
