If you used cloud backup, now might be a good time to renegotiate. That’s because there is a price war raging in the market.
VaultLogix is the latest combatant, running a price chopping incentive plan from now until the end of the year for its cloud backup that is aimed at resellers and SMBs.
“The VaultLogix reseller program enables partners to purchase online backup services at a wholesale rate – with the flexibility to establish pricing and margin levels for their customers,” said Tim Hannibal, founder and CEO, VaultLogix.
The company today counts 600 MSPs, VARs and IT consultants as partners, and there is apparently always room for more.
The program, Cash for Clients, awards partners for adding billable clients that use VaultLogix active vaults. “Monetary rewards will be based on the number of billable clients added to the VaultLogix active vaults on a calendar month basis. Each client added must be initially billable for a minimum of 60 days and 10 gigabytes (GB) of stored data,” the company said.

How does it Work?
In order to qualify, the reseller must be a partner with VaultLogix and not have any unpaid bills older than 30 days. And the reseller has to agree to use VaultLogix services until at least the end of next February.
Here are some more details. “Each client must be initially billable for a minimum of 60 days and 10 gigabytes (GB) of stored data. Migrations from one backup software platform to another are not eligible for payment under the Program. VARs will earn $25 for each eligible client that has 10 to 99 GB added during the Program. VARs will earn $50 for each eligible client that has over 100 GB added during the Program,” the company explained.
Storage Pricing War Rages
With so many cloud storage vendors, one easy route to differentiation is pricing. Asigra got the ball rolling by moving pricing away from an emphasis on backup volumes and towards the amount of data restored.
Zenith Infotech is likewise mixing up its pricing by getting rid of per GB backup pricing.
Interestingly, the Zenith DRaaS lineup now uses technology from StorageCraft, which itself is currently offering 30 percent discounts, contributing its part to the cloud storage pricing war.
