Datto Designates New Business Development VP

Datto Designates New Business Development VP

By Doug Barney

Datto Inc. hopes to maintain its IT and channel momentum with a new VP of Business Development, Rob Rae. Rae was formerly director of partner development and operations for Level Platforms, which sells remote monitoring and management to service providers and MSPs.

And if Level Platforms, or LPI sounds familiar, that could be because AVG just last month announced plans to buy the company.

Datto, meanwhile, is also all about the channel to which it offers hybrid cloud storage. Here one tier of backup is on-premises and another in the cloud.

“Rob joins Datto as VP of Business Development to work directly with Datto Partners and help educate them on how to use Datto products and services to earn profit and successfully grow their business,” Datto said.

Datto CEO Austin McChord picked Rae for his channel chops. “Rob has an invaluable wealth of knowledge and customer experience in the Channel base,” said McChord, founder & CEO of Datto. “We’ve been friends for years and I am thrilled to have him join our team as we continue to grow and expand.”

One Datto partner is looking forward to working with Rae. “I've always enjoyed working with Rob and look forward to what he'll bring to the table in his new role,” said Vince Tinnirello, CEO of Anchor Network Solutions, Inc.

Datto Deepens Partner Tools

Rae should have a lot to work with, as Datto earlier this year revamped its tools that support its more than 5,000 partners. New offerings include training resources, an enhanced partner portal and custom marketing support.

The new portal includes marketing tools and resources, as well as better device tracking and reporting.

Datto is also expanding its customer support hours, and enhancing its technology support with a new “Quick Start Install Service program in which a Datto sales engineer will provide partners with a comprehensive, step-by-step walkthrough of their first Datto SIRIS or Datto SIRIS Lite implementation,” the company said. On the training side, the company is adding a webinar series on sales and marketing. Datto is holding its first ever partner conference this September.
