Capita Bones up on Managed Learning with KnowlegePool Buy

MSP Capita was already deeply steeped in the managed learning services space. But it recently edged up a degree or two by buying KnowledgePool Group Ltd, which is also in the managed learning market.

KnowledgePool focuses on three main areas – administration, learning and training – and serves a diverse pool of customers including Ford, Virgin Media and Lloyds Banking Group.

With the KnowledgePool service, there is one channel through which all learning and training is managed.

“KnowledgePool provides a world-class service that aligns learning with business objectives to improve performance and deliver results. Customers also benefit from access to over 2,500 international suppliers, bespoke e-learning and its ability to deliver efficiencies and evaluate return on investment. This acquisition further enhances Capita’s capability to support organizations to meet regulatory training requirements and develop the knowledge and skills of their workforce,” said Chris Sharp, managing director for Capita’s learning and development business.

Changes in Learning Attitude

Managed learning is of interest to many because most companies are not experts in learning and development, but have a pressing need to improve the knowledge and skill of their workforce. Learning services eases that burden by changing how learning is delivered.

Traditionally, most learning is through instructors – teachers physically present in a classroom. This is not always the most efficient method, however, and today’s education consumers are looking at more cost effective and convenient means such as mobile and distance learning.

These techniques, while they may be cheaper, take time and money to transition to. That’s precisely where a service provider can help.

Capita has an array of learning services that can be bought separately or blended into a fuller offering.

The MSP can review the current state of your learning/training infrastructure, diagnose problems and design solutions, and deliver training through mobile, e-learning, classrooms or in the workplace itself.

It can also handle administration, offer learning supply chain management – a service than encompasses over 100 suppliers – and provide reporting and evaluation to help determine ROI.
