Tourism and Travel Service Provider Amadeus Deploys SevOne IT Management and Reporting Platform

By Laura Stotler

Amadeus, a provider of IT solutions geared toward the global tourism and travel industry, has deployed the SevOne IT management and reporting platform. SevOne was chosen to consolidate IT infrastructure performance monitoring capabilities.

The service provider offers more than 13 petabytes of storage and more than 9,000 infrastructure devices managing its data center in Erding, Germany. This makes it one of the largest data centers in the world dedicated to travel. Amadeus processes more than 19,000 end user transactions as well as more than 370,000 SQL executions per second.

Amadeus had been previously using separate applications running on different operating systems to monitor SNMP and NetFlow data, as well as a third self-developed solution running on unsupported hardware. The service provider decided it was not able to scale with its business demands using that setup, and ongoing maintenance required too many resources along with usability challenges created from working in multiple applications.

"It no longer made sense to monitor our IT infrastructure with multiple tools," said Axel Husch, senior network capacity planner at Amadeus. "With the sheer volume of business passing through our data center on a daily basis, there is a tremendous dependency on the network and SevOne has helped us significantly decrease our exposure to risk."

The service provider chose the SevOne platform to consolidate its monitoring needs and to utilize a single user interface. The platform is appliance-based, so provisioning additional hardware and managing external databases is no longer necessary. The SevOne solution also provides greater visibility into bandwidth usage and resource capacity, as well as the ability to manage more using fewer resources.

"Amadeus is a very well known brand and forward thinking company, and we are very proud to have been selected as their IT performance management and reporting platform," said Bill Conners, SVP of worldwide sales at SevOne. "The SevOne solution represents the most powerful integration of SNMP and NetFlow reporting of any solution and with the volume of transactions that Amadeus is experiencing on a daily basis, we knew our solution would be the best fit for their needs now and in the future."
