Orange Selects CTERA to Power its Business Storage Service

By Shankar Pandiath

France Telecom-Orange, one of the world's leading telecommunications operators, has selected CTERA Networks, a landmark for cloud storage enablement, to power its new storage service offering to over one million customers in France.

CTERA Networks has developed an innovative solution, "Stockage Local," for Orange customers that allows them to share, store and back up files securely with the help of a cloud-enabled appliance. The appliance is managed from Orange’s Le Cloud Pro portal, but is installed locally at the customer’s premises. No onsite IT support is needed for the operation.

By combining on-premises storage appliance with Le Cloud Pro Portal of Orange, CTERA Networks has equipped Orange customers with a truly easy storage solution.

Orange users who subscribe to the service can now keep their data safe and access it when they need it from anywhere, anytime. The local storage appliance installed on the premises of subscribing users is connected automatically to their Le Cloud Pro account with a single sign in. The service then is able to provide subscribers file sharing and backup services at the speed of their local network.

They have the facility of remote Web-based file access on Android a well as iOS devices.

Thus, their data remains protected and accessible at all times with the help of CETERA’s Stockage Local.

CETERA Network’s product, "Stockage Local," is currently available online in France Telecom shops on Orange's "Le Cloud Pro" portal, and can also be obtained via licensed Orange resellers.

Luc Bretones, vice president SMB Market, said they were witnessing a surge in demand for hybrid local / cloud storage solutions. Accordingly, they wanted to ensure that their customers had the option to choose the best storage technology available.

He added that the company had built a suite of applications tailored to meet the needs of SOHOs and SMBs, mentioning that now that they had access to the superior CETRA technology, the new offering could be easily installed and integrated with their Livebox Pro router and Le Cloud Pro portal.

Herve Bourgeois, vice president, international sales for CTERA, said that backup services and cloud-enabled storage is a major source of revenue for service providers. They were really happy to be selected by Orange and such a venture would certainly provide CTERA the exposure to millions of SMBs, and will assist them with their expansion into Europe.

CTERA Networks has been revolutionizing storage and data protection, and is the leader in cloud storage enablement. It pioneered the cloud storage gateway concept and now has over 10 thousand units deployed in enterprises and SMBs.

Its cloud service delivery platform can be used on public or private cloud infrastructure by other leading service providers and enterprises.
