Two U.K. NaviSite Cloud-Enabled Data Centers Achieve SSAE 16 Compliance

By Laura Stotler

NaviSite, Inc., a provider a managed cloud services, has achieved SSAE 16 compliance in its Woking, Great Britain and London cloud-enabled data centers. The two sites were recently added to the company's six data centers and were included in the most recent SSAE 16 audit period including no qualifications required and no exceptions.

The SSAE 16 audit is a standard industry confirmation that the enterprise-class hosting and cloud compute services provided by NaviSite comply with. These include specific standards, procedures and policies that are designed to ensure customer data retains its confidentiality, integrity and availability.

The managed service provider (MSP) achieved SSAE 16 compliance in its Andover, MA and San Jose, CA cloud-enabled data centers last year. NaviSite has sought the certifications to illustrate its commitment to providing customers with high standards for processes, controls and procedures, and the two recent U.K. certifications also represent the MSP's commitment to customer growth and needs. The company can now host a more robust and sophisticated client architecture and offer enhanced levels of availability and customer service.

NaviSite is a Time Warner Cable Company and offers a variety of enterprise-class, cloud-enabled managed applications, services and hosting. Offerings include application services, enterprise hosting and managed cloud services, with the goal of helping customers lower their capital and operational costs by outsourcing their IT infrastructures.

The SSAE 16 SOC 1 auditing standard is recognized internationally, and was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The audit is widely used and offers representation and attestation from a third-party service, showing that a service organization has undergone an in-depth audit of its control activities.

The controls used for the NaviSite audits were developed using ITIL best practices for information assurance and security. Systems and processes evaluated in the facilities' audit include security monitoring, change and problem management, backup controls, logical access and physical and environmental safeguards.

"The SSAE 16 program is an important part of NaviSite's business and underscores the quality of services we deliver to our customers, including our industry-leading cloud services," said Michael Poole, senior vice president, service and delivery at NaviSite. "With the findings published in the audit report and the inclusion of our cloud data center in Woking and our data center in London, our customers can be sure we are committed to the highest standards for ensuring security in their environment."
