Earlier this year, The Wall Street Journal published a report titled “What’s Behind the Increase in Data Breaches?” and packed it with data that folks should know about. For instance, American organizations spent “an estimated $188 billion globally in 2023” on cybersecurity, and Gartner expects that will rise to almost “$215 billion” by the end of 2024. Unfortunately, what runs virtually parallel with figures like those is the number of reported data breaches in the U.S., which rose to a record of 3,025 in 2023, up 78% from 2022 and 72% from the previous high-water mark back in 2021, according to the Identity Theft Resource Center. Experts believe there are three main culprits here – 1.) increasingly sophisticated ransomware attacks that force teams to beef up their defenses in hindsight, 2.) cybercriminals taking advantage of teams migrating rapidly to the cloud without fully understanding all the of the configuration settings and establishing procedures that keeps their data locked down (i.e. leading to full-on cloud misconfigurations), and 3.) the exploitation of vulnerable vendor systems.
Hope is not yet lost, however. MSPs can still take the initiative against evolving cybersecurity threats.
This is where companies Blumira and Trava Security come in.
Blumira is a cybersecurity provider that helps small and mid-market orgs detect dangers and defend themselves; think proactivity, rather than ineffective reactivity (all while meeting compliance and cyber insurance requirements). Similarly, Trava Security – its team comprised of industry pros and self-described “would-be renegades” that’ve come together to make a difference in cyber risk management – also tackles the threat landscape with truly accessible solutions. Trava Security sharing the space with Blumira makes sense, given each looks to help organizations that have been neglected, priced out, or simply failed by old-school approaches.
That’s why Blumira and Trava Security recently announced their strategic partnership.
By drawing on Blumira’s automated threat detection and response (TDR) capabilities and Trava Security’s vCISO and compliance services, organizations are presented with, quote, “a top-tier security posture that protects against detrimental cyberattacks that can significantly impact business operations and growth,” per the official news release.
“Due to high costs and lack of resources, TDR tools are not readily available for all companies,” said Jim Simpson, CEO of Blumira. “Our partnership with Trava Security will help lower the barrier to entry for companies with limited IT and security resources, enabling them to purchase cybersecurity solutions at lower costs. Businesses seeking to improve their cybersecurity posture will greatly benefit from this partnership by protecting their valuable data and customer information from bad actors.”
“We are excited to partner with Blumira to help protect the underserved in the cybersecurity space. Far too many organizations aren’t prepared to manage cyber risk. Blumira’s threat detection and response tools offer demonstrably better protection from cyber threats,” added Jim Goldman, CEO and co-founder of Trava Security. “With Trava Security’s expertise and guidance, we can provide customers with the cybersecurity protection needed to mitigate risk and thrive.”
