Versa Networks Secures Another Win, According to the latest Forrester Wave Report

By Alex Passett

Versa Networks is on a hot streak. Unique among SASE vendors, Versa provides an end-to-end solution “that both simplifies and secures the modern network,” as Versa writes. Versa SASE delivers a broad set of capabilities via the cloud (and on-prem) for building a network that is as agile as it secure. Versa’s continuing mission – now having earned its official Recommended Rating from CyberRatings, plus now being listed by Gartner as a Sample Vendor for Universal Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) – is to address the security and networking challenges that enterprises and MSPs face, while connecting branch offices, home offices, and users to their applications, wherever they exist.

Notably, those two moments of deserved recognition (from CyberRatings and Gartner) were both reported on within just the last week or so.

We haven’t even touched on what Versa announced less than twenty-four hours ago.

So, let’s do that.

Versa, with another SASE-fueled sweep, has been named as a Leader in “The Forrester Wave: Zero Trust Edge Solutions, Q3 2023” report. (Available here.) Authored by David Homles and Andre Kindness, the report evaluates 10 of the top ZTNA/Zero Trust Edge (ZTE) solutions currently on the market.

A bit about ZTE: Per the Forrester report, “Robust ZTE architecture delivers networking and security functions as key services. ZTE is disruptive and high-stakes; it centralizes multiple networking and security capabilities into a single solution.”

Moreover, Forrester explained that the requirements to participate in the SASE market “are significant, and participating solutions must have both a capable and flexible WAN appliance; a big, fast network with global reach, and a security stack for remote users and remote sites.”

As the report details, few vendors have all of these capabilities. But Versa Networks is indeed one of them.

Based on 32 complex criteria grouped into the categories of Current Offering, Strategy, and Market Presence, Versa scored the highest of any evaluated vendor (particularly in the Current Offering category, which measures the strength of offerings based on the remote workforce security capabilities, ZTNA principles, network control, visibility and observability, integrations, etcetera). Versa’s networking pedigree has made it easy for the setup of networking and security policies from cloud-based platforms, and Versa’s customers can even use the company’s portfolio of AI/ML technologies to ensure their applications are secure and optimized “from edge to core to edge.”

As Dan Maier, CMO of Versa Networks put it:

“Being recognized as a leader by Forrester Research in this new, disruptive Zero Trust Edge market space is an honor. As organizations continue to evolve through digital transformations, many are finding that current solutions limit their abilities to move quickly because of inflexible architectures and weak security. Zero Trust Edge gives highly distributed organizations (including retailers, banks, gas stations, and insurance brokerages) a new competitive weapon, and future-proofs their continued evolution into more advanced architectures such as multi-cloud, 5G and satellite operations.”
