Another cloud platform provider has thrown in with IaaS giant Amazon Web Services (AWS) for workforce-as-a-service environments. IndependenceIT, which offers the Cloud Workspace Suite (CWS) hypervisor/cloud platform, has made its solution available on AWS to offer both service providers and enterprises an easy means to deploy anytime anywhere desktop access.
IndependenceIT chose AWS to offer a complete solution to customers with simple and rapid deployment so users need not worry about infrastructure and operational requirements. The company’s platform also works with Google, Microsoft Azure and Artisan Infrastructure so customers have a choice of IaaS provider.
The Cloud Workspace Suite enables quick and easy provisioning of all elements required for hosted desktop access. It is both infrastructure and hypervisor dependent and is being touted as a “Bring Your Own Cloud” offering that can be customized by users to work with their unique operational and infrastructure requirements.
The prevalence of the BYOD trend combined with a shift toward an anytime, anywhere way of conducting business has created a demand for virtualized desktop-as-a-service and cloud-based workforce solutions. The Cloud Workspace Suite meets those needs, offering complete visibility and access to business applications and corporate file systems. The solution uses a Microsoft Windows desktop to enable access from any device and offers an intuitive, browser-based management system.
"Amazon Web Services offers comprehensive computing, application, and deployment services that help organizations speed IT, lower costs, and scale applications," said Seth Bostock, CEO, IndependenceIT. "Combined with IndependenceIT CWS, the integration with AWS helps organizations support user mobility and embrace BYOD as a corporate strategy to increase productivity. These benefits are compounded by the enormous savings in time and resources provided to users at every level, from the service provider to the end customer."
Features of the Cloud Workspace Suite include delivery of desktops, applications, back office systems and directory/user management. The platform can also run large-scale workloads across multiple locations, which are all accessed and managed via a single interface. The offering also includes mobile clients in support of BYOD and distributed workforce environments as well as automated provisioning. It may also be white labeled as a value added offering for service providers.
