Managed Service Provider Week in Review

The gap between managed services, cloud solutions and “as-a-service” offerings got smaller this week. The top headlines were populated by deal and partnership announcements designed to combine the strengths of various companies and create stronger and more valuable services for their customers.

Distributor Arrow Electronics announced it will be offering a variety of solutions from dinCloud, including cloud storage, hosted virtual servers and hosted virtual desktops. The tools will be made available to Arrow partners through its online stores, and the company will also offer the dinManage cloud orchestration tool on a white label basis.

Vormetric, a provider of security solutions, launched its Vormetric Cloud Partner Program this week with the goal of teaming up with MSPs, MSSPs, cloud service providers and hosting companies. The company specializes in firewalls with encryption, file-level access control and key management. The new program provides a variety of benefits including usage-based pricing, sales assistance and access to technical personnel.

ConnectWise targeted the cloud space this week with several announcements to its PSA platform geared toward MSPs, VARs and ISVs. The enhancements center on the cloud and aim to provide improved infrastructure and better speed and reliability. Features include custom reporting capabilities and multi-versioning.

And EarthLink rolled out its FlexCloud Hosting service this week, offering an elastic, virtualization-based service designed to replace sprawling and disparate infrastructure. The offering adjusts compute capacity based on client needs and can burst to higher levels as required.
