LabTech 2013 Made by MSPs for MSPs

Microsoft is the one that made naming product versions after the year it came out (or was supposed to come out) popular. This all started with Windows 95 and continues today with SharePoint 2012.

LabTech Software took this cue with its latest product, LabTech 2013, a remote monitoring and management (RMM) tool which the company said is 100 percent built to meet MSP needs. The MSP community, in part through LabTech’s Partner Innovation Network, helped drive the design.

“This release incorporates more partner feedback than ever, and we took the time to engineer-in that innovative input at the platform’s very core,” said Matt Nachtrab, LabTech CEO. “Existing partners will appreciate how much LabTech 2013 optimizes their current LabTech investment, while new partners will experience the feeling of having a remote monitoring and management solution that seems as though it was built exclusively for them.”

One partner, while appreciating the new features, really likes the spit and polish. “We've been using LabTech since 2011 and have migrated through major and minor releases with varying degrees of success. The attention to detail that LabTech has exercised with the release of 2013 is obvious,” said Elias Leslie, director of IT at Network People. “The patch management and scripting process is smooth and very intuitive. We've seen notable performance enhancements across the board, especially with the patch management interface. As always, LabTech understands what we need to support our clients and has allowed us to focus on doing just that.”

Here is just what LabTech says its new software comes with:

  • “New Integrated TeamViewer Remote Support and Remote Access
  • Newly Redesigned Autotask Integration (Next Generation Autotask Plugin 6.0)
  • New Managed Security Policies for AV
  • Increased Script Engine Automation and Native PowerShell Scripting Support
  • Newly Redesigned Web Control Center and Client Portal
  • Improved Patch Manager Usability
  • New Intelligent Baseline Mode
  • Added Support for Control Center Console on Windows 8 and LabTech Core Server on Windows Server 2012
  • Updated Stability and Performance Improvements”

LabTech Reaches Out to MSPs

Late March of this year, LabTech unveiled its Partner Innovation Network (PIN), a program aimed at offering a deeper relationship with existing partners, and providing a more welcoming home for new partners.

“When our partners make the decision to purchase LabTech as their remote monitoring and management platform, that should really only be the beginning,” said Matt Nachtrab, LabTech Software CEO, at the announcement. “The new Partner Innovation Network is our way of creating a deeper connection to our global community of talented IT professionals, collaborating with them in an exchange of knowledge and expertise about what it takes to provide superior managed services.”

Multiple levels of PIN memberships exist, enabling varying levels of partner participation.

PIN should help LabTech partners offer better services to LabTech customers by tying these partners in more closely with product development and product troubleshooting.

PIN members will have “access to upcoming strategies and technologies, including participation in quarterly business reviews, focus groups and councils that are designed to promote partner-driven innovation and test emerging technologies via LabTech Software's pilot program,” LabTech explained.

Additionally, partners will help define the requirements for future products, technologies and enhancements.
