Accumuli Will Increase Authentication Services with Signify Acquisition

By Michael Guta

A report commissioned by Google concluded the Internet accounts for 7.2 percent of the $2.4 trillion GDP of the United Kingdom, worth slightly more than $153 billion annually. IT security is therefore an essential industry in protecting anyone conducting business using the Internet. As mobile devices become the preferred choice for consumers and corporations start fully integrating them into the infrastructure, implementing the right security platform becomes even more critical. Accumuli, an IT security specialist, has acquired Signify Solutions, a managed service provider, for £2.6 million or $ 3.9 million to give the company more security platform services for its customers.

The key addition Signify Solutions will provide Accumili is a secure authentication managed services for mobile devices. With the increased adoption of mobile devices across all industries into corporate IT infrastructure with bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies, this type of authentication provides a layer of protection for personal and corporate data.

Signify provides two-factor authentication with RSA SecurID hardware token devices – RSA stands for Rivest, Shamir, and Adelman, the inventors of the technique, which is the standard for industrial-strength encryption; software tokens via smartphone apps for tokenless authentication; tokenless via e-mail or SMS with Signify Passcode OnDemand. In addition to providing a world-class authentication service the company will add an additional 282 customers from around the world to Accumuli.

Gavin Lyons, chief executive of Accumuli, said the authentication service provides the "next logical step in our value proposition to help customers secure their business and reduce operating costs, [and] help organizations secure their business from the constantly evolving threat landscape. Given the growing mobility of today’s workforce, it is becoming increasingly important for all organizations to offer employees secure remote access to systems and information.

The Signify platform provides a reliable and flexible application for delivering secure communications. The client base of the company includes multinational corporations, small and medium-size businesses, professional services and central government and local authorities.

Correctly identifying staff, clients, business partners and other relevant personnel or individuals ensures the right person is accessing sensitive information, applications and networks of the organization. The platform is ISO27001 certified, which ensures the security protocols have been reviewed.
