Skyhigh Security Expands Data Protection to Safeguard Microsoft Copilot

By Stefania Viscusi

Skyhigh Security, a provider of Security Service Edge (SSE) solutions, is stepping up its efforts to ensure businesses can leverage AI tools without compromising sensitive data with new enhanced data protection capabilities specifically tailored for Microsoft Copilot.

Microsoft says that nearly 70% of Fortune 500 companies use Microsoft 365 Copilot and among Skyhigh Security’s customers, Copilot usage jumped from 18% to 82% in just a year. Recognizing this rapid growth, Skyhigh is now delivering purpose-built security measures to protect sensitive information throughout Copilot interactions.

Skyhigh Security’s long-standing integration with Microsoft products positions it uniquely to secure Copilot workflows effectively. The platform introduces robust API-based controls, near real-time data loss prevention (NRT-DLP), and on-demand scans (ODS) to align with existing enterprise security strategies.

The new capabilities deliver comprehensive protection for businesses integrating AI into their operations by enforcing real-time Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies across user prompts, AI-generated outputs, and file interactions to ensure compliance and security. They also include DLP on data at rest, enabling scans of previously uploaded or generated files to detect compliance breaches and prevent data exfiltration.

Sensitive data controls also safeguard information stored in Office repositories like SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive, ensuring it remains inaccessible to Copilot. Additionally, enhanced threat investigation provides deeper visibility into user activities, allowing for swift detection and analysis of risky behavior, while User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) leverage advanced analytics to identify and mitigate suspicious behavior patterns or compromised accounts.

The company said it also plans to roll out additional enhancements to its Copilot protection suite in the coming months.

“Our momentum in AI security reflects our broader vision – to enable organizations to confidently embrace AI’s transformative potential without compromising on security or compliance,” said Thyaga Vasudevan, EVP of Product at Skyhigh Security. “With Copilot’s use accelerating in the enterprise, our expanded capabilities ensure that sensitive data remains secure, empowering businesses to innovate with confidence. This latest release cements Skyhigh Security’s role as a trusted partner in safeguarding enterprise AI and sets the stage for future innovations that further align with our mission to secure the world’s data.”
