BreachRx Secures $6.5M Seed Funding

By Stefania Viscusi

BreachRx, a provider of intelligent incident response platforms for the enterprise, closed a $6.5 million seed round, led by SYN Ventures, with additional support from Overline. This milestone is also accompanied by strategic appointments, including former Uber CSO Joe Sullivan as senior advisor, former SAP CSO and SYN Ventures partner Tim McKnight joining the Board of Directors, and former RSA CEO and SYN Ventures managing partner Art Coviello as Board Observer.

BreachRx's offering introduces a new standard for operational resilience across organizations. By automatically generating customized incident response plans and offering targeted guidance to stakeholders throughout the incident lifecycle - bringing clarity during breaches which have always caused chaos.

“Most organizations approach incident response as a security problem. With eight cyber incidents a day, over 200 worldwide incident reporting regulations and intense public scrutiny, it’s clearly a business problem,” said Andy Lunsford, CEO and co-founder at BreachRx. “BreachRx modernizes incident response by empowering businesses to respond to breaches in a highly coordinated, efficient and compliant fashion, replacing the current paradigm of disparate teams responding from their own silos with their own tools. Simply put, BreachRx brings order to the chaos surrounding incident response.”

With privileged communication channels and audit trails it also ensures adherence to evolving compliance standards and proactively shields CISOs and executive leadership from personal liability.

Based in San Francisco, the company boasts over 70 clients including publicly traded companies and Fortune 500 giants and will use the infusion of capital to accelerate its expansion efforts.

“BreachRx is a perfect fit for the SYN portfolio,” said Tim McKnight, Partner at SYN Ventures. “Implementing BreachRx protects companies, shareholders and customers, while meeting the increasingly complex and quickly changing needs of regulators globally. We look forward to helping make BreachRx the new industry standard.”
