Connected Data to Provide Calvary Church with Cloud Storage Solutions

By Michael Guta

Whether an organization is public, private, for-profit or not-for-profit, one thing they have in common is the need to give their audience easy access to the resources for the products and services they offer. In the analog age, this was achieved through published material or call-center services, but today digital technology makes it possible to interact fully with consumers without those expensive alternatives. Calvary Church of Los Gatos, California, a worship organization with a congregation of nearly 1,500 members, has chosen to use the services of Connected Data after Dropbox failed to meet its requirements.

According to Mark Yoder, IT Administrator, Calvary Church, “Our users experienced difficulty and frustration trying to access Dropbox files via their web interface. It just wasn't as intuitive as accessing folders right on the computer… We needed a better solution.”

The Transporter for Business private cloud storage appliance from Connected Data gives the church increased performance, efficiency and protection while at the same time saving the organization recurring monthly Dropbox fees.

The social nature of a church generates large amounts of documents, photos and videos which are shared by its members, staff and volunteers. Because many of the users access this information remotely, having a platform that is not able to provide access when it is needed can be problematic.

“Our staff and volunteers need to be able to access our entire inventory of photos and videos. Unfortunately Dropbox immediately started to fill-up client hard drives with video due to its syncing feature,” added Yoder.

The Transporter platform is the world's first private cloud storage appliance which allows users to privately sync, access, share and protect data at a fraction of the cost of fee-based cloud services.

Unlike other providers in the market place, Connected Data doesn’t store anything on its infrastructure or servers, because it leverages the customer’s existing infrastructure to deliver total control of their data. This dramatically lowers the exposure to sensitive information by hackers, and business-critical data can always be available because it is in the control of the customer at all times.

There is no doubt cloud services are delivering many new solutions for organizations that are simplifying many of their IT needs, but the questions about security still persist. The Transporter for Business private cloud storage appliance from Connected Data alleviates that concern by delivering an affordable private cloud solution virtually anyone can afford.
