IDC MarketScape Report Recognizes SOASTA as Leader in Cloud Testing Market

By Laura Stotler

Cloud and mobile testing provider SOASTA, Inc. has been named a leader in the cloud testing arena by market analyst IDC. The company's "IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Cloud Testing and ASQ SaaS 2012-2013 Vendor Analysis - Enabling Business Agility and Quality in the Cloud" report names SOASTA as a major contender in the space.

The IDC report describes the cloud testing provider as "disruptive" because of its cost-effective value proposition to the enterprise when compared with traditional performance testing models. SOASTA was also recognized for the potential validation support it can offer to organizations migrating to cloud-based or as-a-service type business models.

The MarketScape report goes on to note that SOASTA is well positioned as an innovator in the cloud testing space. This is because of its strength in this type of testing as well as "evolving mobile support" and an ability to support new and emerging technologies.

The CloudTest Platform from SOASTA provides a dynamic and scalable testing solution that simulates Web-based traffic loads. It may be scaled to more than one million concurrent user sessions and can also support load generation from more than 500,000 cloud-based servers distributed throughout the world. According to IDC, SOASTA customers claimed the most important functionality of the platform was its ability to generate the amount of load cloud capability from outside the network with an overall view of what was happening.

IDC also called out SOASTA's partner program as a strong addition to the company's offerings with support for a variety of partners and technologies. These include testing and cloud hosting providers, system integrators like IBM and CSC and technology partners like Microsoft and CA Technologies.

"SOASTA pioneered the concept of cloud testing to make scalable, real world testing possible for Enterprise companies," said Tom Lounibos, SOASTA CEO. "Companies are focused on optimizing the user experience for their customers. By delivering cloud-based testing and evolving our technologies for mobile devices and the analysis of real users, SOASTA helps deliver billions of great user experiences. We are pleased that IDC recognizes our leadership which is a product of our innovative technologies, great customers and partners and strong company execution."

"Organizations must quickly evolve, test and deploy software on multi-modal platforms - from web to mobile to social to cloud -- which drives pressing demand for cloud testing as a 'killer app' for application lifecycle management," added Melinda Ballou, IDC program director for application lifecycle management. "Adaptive provisioning of infrastructure is key for businesses, given the need for software releases in complex environments that may also have compute-intensive demands for social engagement and/or big data analytics. SOASTA's customer success delivering critical capabilities, varied deployment options, effective partnerships, flexible and affordable pricing (compared with high end alternatives) were factors that contribute to IDC's placement of SOASTA as a leader in this MarketScape."
