Wouldn’t it be nice to not have to remember separate usernames and passwords for each platform?
Single Sign-On, or SSO, is a way to do just that. It is a security mechanism that allows users to access multiple applications and services with a single set of credentials. Users authenticate once and are then granted access to all participating systems.
That frustration of managing numerous passwords is gone, and it reduces the risk of using weak or reused credentials. This not only saves time but also enhances the overall user experience.
From a security standpoint, SSO is highly beneficial. Organizations can implement stronger password policies, enforce MFA and monitor login activity more effectively. This reduces the likelihood of unauthorized access and minimizes the potential impact of credential breaches.
SSO is an indispensable tool, and should be offered to clients. Enpass understood that and recently added SSO for its admin console in support for its Business Enterprise customers.
Enpass is a password manager that gives users complete control over where their data resides. Unlike centralized solutions that risk breaches and regulatory penalties, Enpass eliminates single points of failure and simplifies compliance by never storing passwords on its servers. Enterprises worldwide trust Enpass to safeguard their digital credentials, while retaining control of their sensitive data.
With SSO, Enpass now allows its customers to use their existing identity security provider and existing digital workspace clouds to manage password and identity security. All credentials are stored where the customer wants them. IT teams gain a unified view of user access, which makes it easier to manage permissions, detect unauthorized access and automate provisioning and removal of administrator accounts to reduce risk.
The Enpass "Your Way" architecture with SSO offers several advantages for enterprise customers. Here’s a few:
- Seamless SSO via SAML 2.0: Enterprises can now authenticate users easily through popular IDPs.
- Centralized authentication for compliance: Businesses can more easily meet regulatory requirements while maintaining strong security protocols. This closes potential security gaps resulting from employee departures, e.g., no accidental leftover admin account after employee departures.
- Simplified IT management: With SSO, IT teams benefit from centralized user access management, which enables efficient provisioning and removal of user accounts, minimizes the risk of unauthorized access and simplifies overall IT governance.
- Faster logins: Admins can log in to the Enpass Admin Console up to five times faster, provided they are already authenticated through their IDP.
- Customer-controlled storage: Passwords and credentials are stored in the customer’s environment such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace — not on Enpass servers.
“Enterprises face growing pressure to enhance security and meet stringent compliance requirements without sacrificing control,” said Hemant Kumar, co-founder and CEO, Enpass. “Enpass offers a unique solution — letting businesses manage passwords on their existing digital workspace.”
The Enpass SSO feature already gained traction among enterprises in food and beverage, automotive, consulting, IT and apparel industries. It will be fun to see if organizations in other industries follow, valuing the ability to centralize compliance management and enhance security, which in turn increases productivity and reduces operational risks.
