Leadership Reaching Greater Heights: Patrick Zammit is the new CEO of TD SYNNEX

By Alex Passett

Yesterday, I covered a partnership story involving Corsair for Business and TD SYNNEX, renowned technology distributor that empowers IT innovators and ecosystem partners in today’s interconnected world. Earlier this month, fellow MSP Today writer (and content wizard, if you ask me) Greg Tavarez also penned a TD SYNNEX-centric story; it covered the company’s debut of its MSP Evolve program, which combines resources and tools to improve prospects for MSPs, serving as a growth engine for the future. (For those interested in all the background details, read my full story here and Tavarez’s here.)

In short, TD SYNNEX is incredibly aware of how fast technology moves. That’s why the company a.) partners with every valuable piece of the technology ecosystem to manage such relentless tech transformations, and b.) it brings together what it calls “some of the most well-known names and brightest minds in IT and beyond” to develop and follow through on more than 200,000 TD SYNNEX edge-to-cloud products and services.

Until this month (well, until just last week, to be precise), Rich Hume served as TD SYNNEX’s CEO. Hume joined what was previously Tech Data in 2016 as COO, taking over as CEO in 2018. During his tenure, he supported the company through what has been called “a significant period of transformative growth,” including the acquisition of Avnet TS. He also took the company private in partnership with Apollo Asset Management, and helped facilitate the successful merger of Tech Data and SYNNEX, leading to TD SYNNEX as we know it.

Now, TD SYNNEX has a new CEO: Patrick Zammit.

Effective September 1, 2024, Zammit will lead TD SYNNEX as Hume enters retirement. Zammit, who has served as COO since this past January, brings with him what the official transition announcement called “a wealth of experience and a proven track record of driving growth-defining operational excellence.”

As Hume himself put it, leading TD SYNNEX in his CEO role “has been the greatest privilege of my professional career.” Hume added, saying “I am proud of the culture we have built, our partner-first focus and commitment to customer excellence, and the purpose-driven approach we have taken in our business,” said Hume. “In this dynamic and ever-changing technology landscape, Patrick is the right leader to build on this foundation as we continue to deliver value to our customers and vendors across the ecosystem. Under his leadership, I am confident that TD SYNNEX will reach even greater heights.”

In this handing-off of the torch, Zammit stated that he “is honored to succeed Rich and lead TD SYNNEX into its next chapter. I look forward to building on the strong foundation we have established and driving forward our strategy and digitization roadmap to ensure we are constantly delivering the greatest value to our co-workers, partners, vendors, and shareholders. Rich has been an outstanding leader and I look forward to continuing to work with him in his role on our board of directors.”

Overall, the TD SYNNEX Board of Directors has reportedly expressed immense gratitude for Hume’s contributions, and extends its best wishes as Zammit takes the helm.
