IT Consolidation with the Help of a Managed Service Provider

By Tracey E. Schelmetic

Increasingly, the business world is looking for strategies for IT consolidation. By engaging in consolidation, companies are hoping to simplify their technology infrastructure, including software, hardware, and services. The goal is to build a more integrated, seamless environment to underpin the organization’s technology needs, leading to less waste and better utilization.

By building a simpler and more streamlined foundation, organizations can build better processes for managing, updating, and tracking technology resources in the enterprise. They’ll also make better use of the resources they have, reducing costs and improving efficiency.

“Consolidation removes complexity from the typical IT infrastructure,” Pat Hurley, VP and general manager for the Americas at research company Acronis, told Forbes. “You have one dashboard that shows you [the latest] patches, updates, attacks, recoveries and the health status of your backups. Your IT becomes more reliable and more secure.”

Consolidation Improves Administration and Security

More reliable and more secure sounds good. But where to start?

Smart companies begin by engaging a managed services provider experienced in this consolidation and simplification.  Small to mid-sized businesses don’t have the time or resources to invest in adapting to constantly evolving technology trends. This is particularly true when it comes to security: most companies simply don’t have the knowledge or resources to protect themselves against today’s sophisticated cyberthreats.

A switch to a managed service provider for your company’s technology needs can also help you make the most of your data. If you’re like most companies, you don’t currently have data access management tools that provide you with a holistic view across devices and geographies. This may be hindering your ability to understand your customers, communicate in a centralized way, or market in a way that makes sense for your customers and your bottom line. By simplifying your IT infrastructure through consolidation, you’ll have fewer tools to monitor and fewer vulnerabilities to address and patch.

Why Use an MSP?

Like any other type of business consolidation, an IT transformation needs to happen in well-planned stages, from development to execution to measuring results. MSPs are experienced in this type of consolidation, so they can help you succeed the first time rather than engaging in a costly trial-and-error process.

To learn more about how managed service providers can help companies consolidate their IT resources, plan to attend MSPEXPO, part of the #TECHSUPERSHOW series. MSPEXPO has been designed to help service providers understand how they can drive more recurring revenue, increase the valuation of their companies, grow, and protect their networks and deliver better customer service. It will also help companies looking for MSP partners to understand how MSPs can help them grow. The show will take place from February 8-11, 2022, at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. For more information or to register, visit the show website
