MTN, Google, and Dotgo Team Up for RBM Services in Nigeria

MTN, Google, and Dotgo Team Up for RBM Services in Nigeria

By Luke Bellos

Nigerian telecommunications service provider MTN recently announced it will soon be launching its RCS Business Messaging(RBM) Services, created in partnership with Google and RCS service provider, Dotgo.

SMS messaging is quickly becoming the most popular form of communications between businesses and customers. To further enhance SMS experiences, Rich Communications Services (RCS) offer brands the ability to include audio, video, and location data to drive greater experiences and increase chances for continued business. MTN joined forces with Google and Dotgo to ensure RBM users can interact with customers securely, leveraging Google’s Jibe RCS platform and Dotgo’s MaaP (Messaging-as-a-Platform) to make this a reality.

“As Nigeria’s largest carrier, MTN is all set to onboard brands that can reach out to a vast majority of Nigerian customers and delight them with a user experience like never before, to boost lead generation and conversion rates. This is a great opportunity for brands to connect with the end consumers of Nigeria for sales and support,” says Lynda Saint-Nwafor, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN Nigeria.

RCS is currently the default messaging standard for 5G networks, but MTN’s services will also be compatible with 3G and 4G networks. Additionally, the partnership with Dotgo will also enable MTN to take advantage of other Dotgo solutions, including chatbot capabilities, billing, payments, and other advanced features to offer businesses additional support for successful customer journeys.

“We are proud of our technical collaboration with Google and Dotgo. The superior technology design, robust service operations, optimum business processes, and 24x7 support are key to delivering the Next Generation Business Messaging experiences to our Brands & Business Partners at the most affordable rates. With this generational shift we aim to further aid & accelerate Digital Transformation amongst the institutions, commerce & industry in Nigeria.”
