LOGICnow Acquires Mac MSP, Extends Support for Mac Workstations

By Casey Houser

LOGICnow, the provider of its own cloud-based IT service management software, has long supported Windows PCs. Recent developments, however, will extend its capabilities to continue to provide a top class service for Macs.

The company just announced that it has released a version of its Take Control remote management tool for Mac – available in the MAX Remote Management platform that also targets Windows – and has also acquired Mac-MSP, a developer of cloud-based software for managed service providers (MSPs) that use Mac computers. Concerning this development and LOGICnow’s focus on remote management and monitoring (RMM), company Senior Vice President of Engineering Stephen Garland noted an increase in product demand that led LOGICnow down this path.

“Boosting our Mac capabilities is a major focus for us in 2016,” Garland said. “Due to historically lower market demand, RMM platforms have rarely included any form of dedicated Mac management capability, with the result that MSPs have not been able to focus as closely on Macs as PCs and have had less capability to deliver responsive Mac support. However, as Mac popularity has grown, so too has the need for MSPs to be able to support them.”

MAX has proven itself a valuable tool in the tasks of remote management, data backup, mail server responsibilities, and as a service desk. Previously, clients may have had gaps in their ability to monitor all computers on their networks and make sure their entire lines were secure. This should no longer be the case with LOGICnow’s new ability to handle Unix.

All issues surrounding MSPs will be on display this week at MSPExpo, which will take place in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. from the 26th through the 28th. While in attendance, administrators can see how they can best allocate engineering time and ramp up their organizations’ efficiency. By securing their network and moving to the cloud with third party tools such as LOGICnow, this step could be essential to companies who want to improve all aspects of their businesses and keep a close eye on everything happening in their networks.
