Cloudnexa Issued Patent for vNOC Cloud Management Platform

By Clayton Hamshar

Cloudnexa, a provider of cloud-based managed services, has been granted patent 13/110,595 from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its innovative vNOC cloud management platform. The patent was issued specifically for a proprietary system and method that uses a single, common web interface to create and manage third party cloud computing environments with an emphasis on security, compliance and governance.

The vNOC platform is offered to customers of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and contains a set of automation and global management tools for managing an AWS cloud environment. A graphical interface (Dashboard) provides a consolidated view of all a business’ AWS accounts across regions resource groups, whereas the Cloud Manager includes tools for managing resources, cost, policies and day-to-day cloud operations. vNOC is also comprised of Reports and Audit modules for detailed user-defined analytics, auditing and searching, a Configuration tool to manage connections to the AWS console and the Identity Services module to define roles for users and groups that determine access.

vNOC includes four majorly powerful features to help users take control of their AWS cloud environment. CloudTrail facilitates in-depth visibility into AWS account activities with extensive organizational tools, and a URL Monitor powered by Amazon’s Route 53 Service lets public domain or IP endpoints be monitored and email notifications be received while a Website is offline. The CloudWatch Historical Archive tool can store CloudWatch metrics for extended periods of time while AWS Config provides a historical auditing perspective toward retrieving and inventorying resources as well as troubleshooting change management issues.

“This technology can provide a real value add for clients looking for a consolidated governing body over the management of their cloud provider, via customizable workflows,” said Josh Resnick, Vice President of Engineering at Cloudnexa. “Additionally, the usage of the encryption key management functionality is ideal to help meet compliance requirements around Personally Identifiable Information (PII),” said Resnick.

The vNOC cloud management platform enables the creation of secure cloud computing environments with a full set of features such as a virtual network, instances and storage while ensuring limited user access and encrypted keys via a separate store. As a Premier Consulting Partner in the AWS Partner Network and authorized reseller, Cloudnexa offers vNOC and Cloud Management-as-a-Service to a wide variety of clients using the AWS Cloud.
