Concord Technology Group Achieves Platinum Partner Status

By David Delony

Concord Technology Group has announced that it has achieved Platinum Fortinet status, giving it more credibility in the field of threat management.

"Our Platinum FortiPartner achievement is a testament to our dedication to providing our customers the highest level of service with the best technology solutions available," said Andy Lingenfelter, president of Concord Technology Group. "Being a Platinum FortiPartner furthers that commitment."

The certification is the highest a company can have with the provider of Internet security appliances can have.

The certification shows how valuable value added resellers (VARs) are to hardware and software. Acquiring a hardware or software product is useless if a customer has no idea how to deploy it properly.

Security is a very difficult field, even for those experienced with hardening hardware and software, to implement properly. Even experts make major mistakes, as the Target credit card breach late last year showed.

Hiring firms like Concord is an attempt for companies that would rather do useful work than spend time securing their systems keep their sensitive data safe. Smart IT people know when they’ve exceeded their competence and will contract with a VAR, the same way that doctors will refer patients to specialists.

Computer security ideally works the same way. No one IT person or even an entire department can possibly foresee or deal with any threat as it arises. Security problems also crop up in unexpected places.

Fortinet has also recently given Concord and other VARs some new hardware to integrate with three new application delivery controllers (ADCs) for data centers and MSPs designed to reduce total cost of ownership in high-volume environments.

“ No other ADC manufacturer offers our ratio of price to performance while including many options like Global Server Load Balancing and 10 Gigabit SFP+ connectivity," said John Maddison, vice president of marketing for Fortinet.
