Masergy Offers Private Managed Access to AWS through Cloud Network

By Laura Stotler

The focus has been on partnership and expansion over the past couple of months for managed networking and cloud services provider Masergy Communications Inc. The company is now providing direct, private access to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Direct Connect through its managed cloud network.

With Amazon still dominating the IaaS cloud arena, the move to partner with AWS is a practical one for Masergy that will better serve the company’s customers. Masergy is assuring predictable connectivity as well as increased performance and security by linking to AWS through their managed network. Customers may gain direct private access to AWS and its suite of products and services through east and west coast data centers as well as the AWS GovCloud.

"Companies wanting to deploy critical applications on cloud services such as AWS are often challenged by the non-deterministic performance, diminished security, and lack of QoS capabilities associated with access via the public internet," said John Dumbleton, senior vice president of business development for Masergy. "Our relationship with Amazon resolves these issues by providing on-demand, high performance cloud networking solutions with an unsurpassed customer experience."

By using Masergy’s intelligent connectivity services, customers can gain private, on-net access to AWS as well as the ability to adjust connection speeds and control QoS. Customers may optimize their application performance as well as modify services in real time as consumption and needs dictate. The company also offers an Intelligent Network Analyst for viewing and tracking all network traffic. The app enables views and filtering of traffic based on a number of criteria like application, port and IP address and also features embedded network monitoring and reporting capabilities. It also features an Active Network Map, which displays the exchange of network traffic among customers’ top 15 sites, enabling users to identify traffic patterns, flow direction, changes and bandwidth utilization through a single display.
